When I see some DVD I like like I did in the past I would press buy to send it to me. I did not know it would not play until I tried to play it and said "Will not play in this area",Then when I had to plan to return it,I found out from you if open and tore off plastic I could not return it even though it will not play in my DVD player,first time ever I have had this "Problem",Question,Why did they sent it to me if they knew I lived in the USA and it would not work in the USA ?. I haven't reviewed the extra features yet, but they look a bit light. Very happy with the set. It is what it says it is, all steak, no sizzle, and tha's fine with me.

(More customer reviews)I remember when this used to come on "CBS late night" on Fridays paired with the New Avengers. Kind of a resurgence of 60s british TV in the late 70s. I really loved both shows for the refreshing story arcs and the music as well. The first few notes of the Theme song just kind of gets in your head and stays there. In some ways it has a similar feel to the Avengers, though also a lot like The Equalizer and that type of genre as well.
Can't wait to get this on DVD in NTSC, hopefully will be released soon. Though I am tempted to buy this one since I do have a region free player somewhere. Would be best if they released it in a bluray, then it would defintiely be worth the $70+ buckaroos.
I never saw the original The Saint series (with Roger Moore) until after I had seen this series, so to ME this WAS the original! I also preferred it in color. Tried to watch the old series since Roger Moore was a familiar face, but just never could get into the older series.
It was a great comeback, wish it had lasted longer.

(More customer reviews)First off, this is a very nicely produced and packaged set. It's great to have most of the episodes (this is NOT the complete series) in one set. Most of the bonus features from Hart Sharp Video's 4 sets is carried over, but as I went through the set, some segments are missing. Also, the audio commentaries (on the Berra, Torre, Posada and Rivera eps) are not included. Right now, the set is $40 as opposed to the retail price of $100. For me, $40 for the ten previously unreleased episodes made this a worthwile purchase.

Space 1999 - 30th Anniversary Edition Megaset (17DVD) (1975) Review

I had all the old American releases on DVD (which I will be selling to a local merchant because they deal in used DVDs) to recoup some of the cost I spent on this set. THIS IS NOT THE NETWORK DVD/UK EDITION REMASTERS FOR REGION 1...let's make that VERY clear.
If you have a multi-region/format player, go over to Amazon UK and order the First Season from Network...it is *spectacular*. You can also pre-order the Second Season from Network there as well (release date is Sept 10). The Network DVDs have phenomenal video AND audio, crisp and clear 5.1 audio in fact that gives your sub-woofer a workout. Needless to say, I pre-ordered mine from across the pond the day I got this.
Why 3 stars? Overall story and series would have gotten a 5. Minus four stars for the remaster rip-off, plus a star for slimmer packaging/better price, plus a star for *some* improvement in the audio (now 2.0 stereo as opposed to mono) and a bit of an improvement on Season Two eps video.
If you have this...save your cash, even though the old discs might take up more shelf-space. If you don't and only have a standard Region One player, then by all means get it. If you have a multi region/format player...RUN to Amazon UK and purchase the Network Season One and Two Versions.
There is no comparison...the Network DVDs are spectacular!

Tom and Jerry's Greatest Chases Review

(More customer reviews)This is the very first DVD of Tom and Jerry cartoons. It has a total of 14 shorts, plus a clip from the movie ANCHOR'S AWAY featuring Jerry doing a dance with Gene Kelly. The 14 cartoons that they included are all excellent. A few Oscar winners are included. All 14 are from the early period when Tom and Jerry were directed by Hanna and Barbera. Most of these are cartoons that I have never seen before. There is quite a bit of violence in these cartoons, and that's good, because that's how cartoons are supposed to be! Several of the cartoons have blackface gags, so if you are offended by that kind of thing, then I am letting you know in advance. For example, there's a scene where Jerry's face is dipped in shoe polish, and afterwords he has a blackface.
Unfortunatley, one of the cartoons has been edited! This really ticks me off! In the original version of "The Little Orphan," a lit candle lands on Tom's tail. His whole body is burned and turns black. Then the black Tom gets pushed into a cabinet of dishes. But on this DVD, the entire part where Tom is black has been deleted. This really Ticks me off! It's bad enough that they edit the cartoons when they play them on TV, but to edit them on a DVD is beyond ridiculous. Actually, I knew that the DVD was edited even before I bought it, but I bought it anyway because I love these cartoons! But still I don't understand why they edited it. I own plenty of R-rated movies with content that some people might view as being "offensive," but none of those are edited. So I guess some people think that a cartoon is somehow more offensive than an R-rated movie.
Well, despite this one flaw, this is an excellent DVD. The other 13 cartoons are all complete and uncut. The picture and sound quality is absolutely amazing. There's this one cartoon where Jerry is on top of a skyscaper in New York City, and he's hanging over the edge and when they show the moving traffic down below I almost got dizzy looking at it. All those itty bitty cars show up so clear on my TV screen. They really did a good job with the picture and sound here. Also it's nice to be able to watch these cartoons without any of those stupid network TV logos on the screen.

Sadly I dont think Cartoon Network plays these shows anymore so many kids may not know what this is. Adults will remember it though and it certainly is a show the entire family can enjoy. Different riders would win on each episode, often with dilemmas within the race (mostly caused by Dick Dastardly/Muttley). It is a simple but fun show that I loved watching and I am glad we are getting the complete series of 34 episodes on dvd. There look to be good extras included on here, and each episode has been remastered to look better than ever before. Amazon's price of $[...] is a steal for what you get so I encourage fans of 60s/70s animation as well as first-time fans to pick this bargain up. It is fun for the whole family, old or young.
