(More customer reviews)I bought these two volumes new and spent over $50 doing so. You get two DVDs with three discs in each. Why would I buy DVDs if I have the cookbooks? I find watching Ina Garten cook in her kitchen very relaxing after a hectic day. SHE is doing the cooking, not me. SHE is having to clean up, not me. Of course we all know she has a team to do all the prep work and clean up, but we can pretend, can't we? Lots of her earlier episodes with lots of food and friends. Lemon cakes, shrimp dishes, brownies, salads, entrees. I recently made her Szechuan Noodles and the first bowl cost me $40! That's 'cause I didn't have any of the ingredients you need to make it! But once you splurge on all the condiments, you're home free. I have eaten Szechuan Noodles all week! I can't get enough of her recipe. Hot, cold, warm. They are SO good! That recipe is on the DVD as well. She isn't cutesy like a lot of the Food Network people. I really dislike that. Cute doesn't work for me. I want someone with substance who knows what she's doing. Ina Garten is that gal. You can buy them new, like I did, or used. Just get them both! You will find yourself in your kitchen at odd hours of the night cooking something! They're addictive. Hope she comes out with Volumes 3, 4 and on.

Some shows I can find in her companion book, The French Chef - ISBN 0-345-42542-1; others like The Spinach Twins and French Fries I can't even find the individual recipes in the index let alone the show.

(More customer reviews)This is an entertaining video to watch. He cooks some yummy things. True to Bobby Flay, there are always a MILLION ingredients and there's always multiple toppings and sauces for a dish. I'd like to taste some of his dishes cooked by him because I've yet to create one of his entire recipes that made sense as far as all the extra sauces and that I was completely happy with the way I cooked it. I'm no pro, but I do cook a lot, and I live in a green-conscious, gastronomic area. We aren't eating miracle whip and white bread around here. Anyway...this review is not so much about his choices in sauces and chutneys and extras that he adds but the fact that this video has 0 and I mean zero directions as to how much of the ingredient to add or any recipes anywhere on the DVD. I searched the entire thing looking for them and was shocked they weren't anywhere to be found. I made the fra divolo bbq T-bones and had to go to [...] to get the recipe. So, unless you are someone who can watch another person make something in a video and know exactly how much of what to add by watching them...you are going to have to go hunting for the recipes if you want to make any of them. Perhaps it is my own ignorance showing in this review, but I thought the point of having a cooking video is to help the cook make the dishes themselves. I wouldn't think it was for the entertainment factor itself.

(More customer reviews)If you like DDD, then this is a way to get a ton of episodes all in one go. I work at sea for 5 weeks at a time in Brazil and we do not get Food Network (imagine that). I like having the DVD's so I can pop in an episode and feel like I'm back at home. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the lack of outtakes or extra features on any of the disks in season 1 and 2. Guy can be entertaining and I figured the outtakes could be fun. Regardless, I'm glad I bought the set.

Great Chefs: Chocolate Passion (2000) Review

(More customer reviews)The cover photo of that luscious chocolate cake with chocolate ruffles and a chocolate band is just the beginning of what you will find within this treasure of a DVD. The master chefs of these pieces are mostly from the US (one actually being a transplanted Frenchman by the name of Jacque Torres; recognize him?)and with one recipe from the French master of chocolate, Robert Linxe of Le Maison du Chocolat in Paris. I thoroughly enjoyed both watching and creating these desserts, with some being a tad more detailed, though nonetheless, possible to create.
There are eight different "chocolate passions" within this disc. They are:
Chocolate Terrine
Creme Brulee
White Chocolate Mousse Cake
Meringue with Chocolate
Chocolate and Drambuie Souffle
Meringue with Chocolate
Chocolate Ganache (our friend Robert Linxe)
Chocolate Fontaine (our friend Jacque Torres)
President Cake
I had purchased the VHS format many moons ago, when "DVD" just meant letters from the alphabet. I'm very glad that it is now available in the DVD format, which can withstand the constant playing and replaying that many of us "chef wannabe's" tend to do. I think you will be quite pleased with this small, but enjoyable, menu of dessert items.

Everyday Italian helped me expand, and gave me ideas for foods I already make, but to make them taste better. Giada keeps the recipes pretty traditional but the simplistic things we would never think of to make it taste better (like cracked pepper vs table pepper) she does in her recipes and just amazing! The food is healthy, and cheaper than eating out, yet you feel like you are eating out every time you cook these recipes! Giada is the biggest inspiration for making food fun for cooking/baking/grilling. I would recommend these shows to anyone.
The seller I purchased from was very quick with shipping, and the item looked like it came off of a new bookstore shelf in top condition. Item arrived as described and I would trust this seller for future items.
