But the one thing that I found peace and calm was watching whenever I could the incredible development of characters and events in the first season of Rosewell. Immediately I fell in love with Liz,Max and the rest of the gang. No other television series has portrayed the realities of what it like to be a teenager with secrets and those who share the same. Roswell captures the heart of being in love, the struggles a couple must face; heartbreak, betrayal, hope, and breath-taking 180's that leave you winded. yet wanting more. I strongly recommend anyone to become a Roswell fan. Because you will definitely see yourself in one or more of the characters, and then you will relate in ways you would never have imagined.

(More customer reviews)Only Roswell Fanatics new and old may be able to understand my post...I have never been a "Fanatic" of ANY show and could never really understand why people could get so worked up about fictional shows...until Roswell...I am 25yrs old and have lived a pretty safe & boring life (my bar & clubbing days don't seem that interesting anymore). When the first episode aired, I watched it and was instantly hooked!!! You get so immersed in this show while watching it that everything else fades away until the hour is over. I actually felt like going to visit New Mexico, see what it is like there. In a stupid way, I wanted to visit the "crashdown" café and "see" Maria, Liz, Michael, Max, etc. I wanted to research on the theory behind the real Roswell story. I wanted to know EVERYTHING Roswellian. I finally began to see that there is a bigger and more incredible world out there. It made me a believer that there are thing in this universe that doesn't have an explanation to it and it's ok. This show (can you believe it) made me feel like I have not lived life yet and that there is so much more to life...to live and see.
The sweet innocent (not cheesy at all!) soul mate love of Max & Liz is incredible. Max is calm, silent, and compassionate but can really be strong when he need to...Liz is smart, sweet, interesting and loyal. I can so relate to the character of Liz. I can't put it into words; you have to see to understand. I wonder if I will be able to ever find a love like that?
Although I am a HUGE Max & Liz fan, there is actually a couple that on that show that made my heart beat (just a little bit) more for them...and that is Michael & Maria. Michael is dark, brooding and complicated (love that in a man lol), Maria (Liz's best friend) is the opposite...she is quirky, open and sarcastically honest. She was the comedic relief of Roswell. I knew they should be together the moment when Isabel, Max and Michael were eating lunch and Isabel was saying something to the effect that her and Maria were so different. When Maria saw them she tripped and fell (that had me LOL!) and Michael said that girl was weird. That moment I thought they would make an awesome couple! Yes he was downright rude to her sometimes that I just want to slap him...but he's had a rough life and he doesn't know how to show affection very well. Maria had a lot of affection, so it kind of balanced them...SPOLIER...SPOILER...(for season three)...didn't like what happened to Michael & Maria in Season three. Maria became very cold and unlike herself. She wasn't the person that I have watched grown in Roswell. It made me wonder what happened for her love for Michael?
The rest of the cast is great too...Isabel who is Max sister is beautiful (as is most of the cast IMO), cool, aloof...yet has a certain vulnerability to her...Alex (Liz & Maria dear friend who also has a crush on Isabel) is a little nerdy but downright sweet, kind and a true and loyal friend...Sheriff Valenti is tough, smart, doesn't always realize his actions have consequence but in the end you can see his heart was in the right place...Kyle (Sheriff Valenti's son) was kind of an ass in the beginning but turned out to be a really cool, down to earth guy.
Roswell is a great show and I highly recommend it to everyone. Every time I hear Dido's song (theme song for the show), I thought of Roswell and it makes me very sad that the show is no longer on air. It has such promise to be one of the best shows on tv! I can't wait for season 2 to come out!!!

Roswell - The Complete Third Season (The Final Chapter) (1999) Review

(More customer reviews)I first watched season 1 of Roswell after purchasing the DVD set early last year. Since then I have became one of the shows biggest fans. Now after a long wait the release of Roswell Season 3 the Final Chapter will be released on August 9, 2005. I was a bit concerned that the third season would not be as good as the first or second, but to my surprise it was just as good if not better. Roswell is still one of my favorite TV shows. Like the first and second season, season 3 still has a bit of a love story to it, but also keeps that sci-fi feel to it. I have to say I have never cared much for sci-fi series but Roswell is so much more than just that. Like the wonderful first and second season, this third season still takes you on a emotional journey. As you go through each episode you still find yourself growing more and more attached to the characters as they go on their own emotional journey and self discovery. The sad thing is unlike the previous seasons the characters are not always hanging out together at the crash down café. They are doing their own things which is a bit hard for me because I was so accustomed to them being together but I guess it is just part of them growing up. For me Season 3 is much more emotional because I enjoyed this show so much and it was hard to let it go. I have discovered one of the best shows with Roswell, and I can not wait till this final Roswell season 3 set is released on DVD on August 9 2005. Having grown up in Roswell with only a few close friends aware of their alien origins, Max, Isabel, and Michael have finally come of age. (More customer reviews)It's always an excitement for me to be able to lend a small, scholarly insight when I review a documentary. So many great docs exist, and I've reviewed so few of them. This thing here, THE DAY AFTER ROSWELL, will teach something about gullibility factors and the U.S. government's penchant for pulling pranks on We, the People.
This clown, Col. Philip Corso, who was some little pencil-pusher at the time of the Roswell incident in the 1940s, rocketed to fame when he came forward as an elderly man in the 1990s--he claimed he and he alone was responsible for retro-engineering the alien technology retrieved at the Roswell "crash site". Corso took credit for everything that, as far as I know, was actually invented by the great Jerry Lemelson: lasers, fiber optics, cryosurgery etc.
And they say only the top brass is completely screwy!
This documentary is excellent in the sense that it does, indeed, reveal the true origins of all the inventions, including the polymer-based superfabrics. Things Corso says he retro-engineered from extraterrestrials. The documentary makes Corso look like the fool that he was...but I did find it intriguing the way it helpfully animated for us the extraterrestrial technology as Corso described it.
Chalk this up to fine skeptical minds dissecting more absurd claims; they do a good job making mincemeat out of Corso's claims.
What I wanted to know after seeing this was: What the hell IS going on in this country?

(More customer reviews)I first became familier with Roswell after purchasing the first season DVD set early last year. Since then I have became one of the shows biggest fans. I was a bit concerned that the second and third seasons would not be as good as the first, but to my surprise they are just as good if not better. Roswell is still one of my favorite TV shows. Season 1 deals more with the relationship/love story between Max and Liz. The second season deals more with the sc-fi aspect while the love story takes a backseat. The third and final season has the best of both the love story and sci-fi story. I have to say I have never cared much for sci-fi series but Roswell is so much more than just that. Like the wonderful first and second season, the third season still takes you on a emotional journey. As you go through each episode you still find yourself growing more and more attached to the characters as they go on their own emotional journey and self discovery. The sad thing is with the final season the characters are not always hanging out together at the crash down cafe. They are doing their own things which is a bit hard for me because I was so accustomed to them being together, but it was just part of there characters growing up. It was so hard to see the last season of Roswell come to an end. I have discovered one of the best shows with Roswell and highly recommend this show to anyone who enjoys a great tv show that will inspire and get them addicted!

Opening with a Dido theme song and featuring character-driven, sweet-natured melodrama, Roswell was a show with a surprisingly dedicated fandom, who twice won it reprieve from cancellation. One of its main strengths was, of course, the extent to which its premise--alien teenagers trying to sort out their identities while emotionally involved with their human contemporaries--was a free-floating metaphor for race and sexuality issues. Another was the strong ensemble that its cast developed: you believed in the strangeness of the alien trio and the well-intentioned normality of their three human friends. Jason Behr gave the alien Max a quiet authority and Majendra Delfino took the sidekick role of Maria and gave it both intensity and fine comic timing. It was also a show in which you were never sure which adults you could trust--William Sadleir trod a fine line of ambiguity as the local sheriff and Julie Benz was silkily sinister as an FBI agent. Anyone who ever loved this show will want these DVDs--and many others may want to find out what the fuss was about.

Roswell is presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen. The special features include commentaries by writer Jason Katims, the directors, and various cast members as well as featurettes.The commentaries are unusually insightful on the casting process, and the discs also include the auditions for the part of Tess as well as deleted scenes and a music video. --Roz Kaveney
