WWN - FIP: USUAL SUSPECTSW (2006) Review

(More customer reviews)This is the first of a few dozen FIP shows that I've watched that I flat out did not enjoy. It made absolutely no sense from beginning to end. The theme of the night was that FIP would somehow crown its first Tag Team champions by the end of the show. A tournament perhaps? No sir. A round robin series? Nope. A gauntlet match? A battle royal? A drinking contest? No, no, and no! There was absolutely no structure at all; random matches with random pairs, sometimes a team would compete twice and then go backstage. Despite the fact that there was several really good tag team matches, the show (in my humble opinion) was a complete disaster. I just got burnt out on tag team wrestling very quickly and by the end I didn't care. The end partially justified the means when my favorite FIP tag team, Jimmy Rave & Fast Eddie Vegas, captured the tag team titles in a 3-WAY elimination match. FIP has some work to do to build up their tag team division after squashing them all in one night.

The wrestlers did do a great job with their matches but the booking was totally out of whack. Here's a quick synopsis of the night giving each match a rating out of ten. The Carnage Crew vs The Heartbreak Express ( 4 / 10 ), Ring Crew Express vs The Carnage Crew ( 5 / 10 ), Roderick Strong & Jerrelle Clark vs Homicide & Vordell Walker ( 7 / 10 ), Spanky & Sal Rinauro vs James Gibson & Steve Madison ( 6.5 / 10 ), Jimmy Rave & Fast Eddie vs Evan Starsmore & Aaron Epic ( 3 / 10 ), Jimmy Rave & Fast Eddie vs The Ring Crew Express ( 6 / 10 ), C.M. Punk & Don Juan vs Spanky & Sal Rinauro ( 6.5 / 10 ), Antonio Banks vs Rainman vs Jared Steel ( 7 / 10 ), Jimmy Rave & Fast Eddie vs Roderick Strong & Jerrelle Clark vs C.M. Punk & Don Juan ( 6 / 10 ). The non-tournament triple threat match was a breath of fresh air and surprisingly good. Three of FIP's "big men" went at in a great contest with the better man coming out on top.
Final Thoughts: The best part of this DVD was the hype it gave for the show planned the night after involving the showdown between FIP Champion Homicide and the man has possession of the stolen FIP belt, C.M. Punk.
There are dozens of FIP DVDs available on ROHwrestling.com and I would recommend every single one of them --- EXCEPT THIS ONE! HAKTUI!

World Wrestling Network Presents: FIP - Violence Is the Answer (2005) Review

(More customer reviews)Full Impact Pro made its debut in Arcadia to what I would guess was their biggest crowd to date. Coming off what I would call their worst show ever, they certainly hit a home run with this event. They started with a bang as two of the top independent wrestlers in the country put on a wrestling clinic in the opening match. Spanky vs Roderick Strong was perhaps the 2nd best match of the night behind the main event ( 8 / 10 ).
The second match pitted Dave Prazak's Asian giant Ryze taking on the rising star Antonio Banks. I still think Ryze is really green but has the potential to be something big in the wrestling business with the proper guidance. Antonio Banks continues to impress me and he is building momentum with each and every victory in an FIP ring ( 6 / 10 ).
The four-way fray was won by Salvatore Rinauro and involved Jared Steel, Rainman and Kahagas. The storyline here was that Sal Rinauro is the new "protégé" of Spanky, who was at ringside cheering for his buddy ( 6 / 10 ).

Dave Prazak deprived the Arcadia fans of seeing a Tag Team championship match, but instead let his DP Associates compete in separate singles matches. First up, Fast Eddie Vegas defeated Dunn (from the Ring Crew Express) but it took interference from Jimmy Rave to score the victory ( 6.5 / 10 ). It was really fun to see Dunn, and later Marcos, wrestling outside of the spot fest ROH-style they have become known for. They are actually really good wrestlers as singles and as a team. Jerrelle Clark showed up to make the save and morphed into a match where he pinned Jimmy Rave in a 1-on-1 bout ( 7.5 / 10 ).
The Carnage Crew joined forces with Marcos (of the Ring Crew Express) for a six man tag team match against The Heartbreak Express & Don Juan. I have always hated the Carnage Crew, I still don't understand The Heartbreak Express, and Don Juan annoys me -- despite all that I have to admit it was a decent match ( 6 / 10 ).
In a grudge match stemming from an incident that happened the night before, the "Modern Miracle" Steve Madison finally showed some personality and challenged former WWE Superstar James Gibson. It was a heated affair with both men doing their best to destroy the other, but it was Steve Madison who had his hand raised at the end of the match. Scoring a victory over James Gibson is a huge feather in your cap, even if Madison had to wrap a steel chain around his fist and crack Gibson in the head to do it! ( 7.5 / 10 ).
The main event was an "Anything Goes" match between FIP Champion Homicide and C.M. Punk. Punk stole the FIP belt several months ago at an ROH show in New Jersey and has been claiming to be the FIP Champion ever since. Good prevailed over evil on this occasion as Homicide defeated Punk and reclaimed possession of the FIP belt. It was an incredible match and the crowd was emotionally invested into every intense moment ( 9 / 10 ).
Final Thoughts: I'm really happy to see attendance growing for FIP events. The crowd was really vocal during this show and there were a lot of kids there having the time of their lives. That's what wrestling is all about. Good on Full Impact Pro for putting out a quality family-friendly product.

If your a wwe fan please check this out. you have to see Punks early work to understand. Just how good Punk really is. Colt was great. Spanky was wickly brilliant. Just pick this up and watch.

(More customer reviews)I very much enjoyed this card. The show was really a lot of fun. Prazak cut some good promos. he also did some good play by play. along with making some nice one liners. CM Punk proved why he makes a evil heel in spades. was wicked on the mic, and very enjoyable in the ring. Joe was excellent in the ring, while he didn't talk. Joe doesn't really have to work the mic. Him and Ace Steel had a funny promo early in the night. and I laughted myself silly. Ace Steel is brillant. over all the show had some nice high spots. good wrestling and everyone was feeling it. my only grip was a couple of fans screaming was getting on my nerves. and the production wasn't were it should be by now. Wrestling wise this was good and very enjoyable. if your looking for something diffrent, from the mainstream. then FIP is a nice gem to treasure.

(More customer reviews)Same as other volumes, this one features great matches but the editing and the filmography is not the best around on this one the matches ended almost instantly without any post match moment. there are some interviews on this one, the extras aren't that good. the only reason I bought this was because I wanted to see a match involving Nikita (Katie Lea Burchill in WWE) mostly cause I wanted to see her doing some wrestling and not just valet company.

World Wrestling Network Presents: Shimmer, Vol. 1 (2006) Review

(More customer reviews)After about a decade of being brainwashed by Dub Dub E's desperate version of Women's wrestling, I found it extremely refreshing to sit down and watch an event full of real women athletes competing in a wrestling ring, and using actual wrestling moves. Attendance was embarrassingly low and I pray that SHIMMER catches on and more people go to the shows, because the girls really deserve it, and more voices could really add to the atmosphere. This was SHIMMER's debut show, and with the exception of a few minor flaws, I enjoyed myself from bell to bell.
I had a lot of fun watching some female wrestlers whom I had never actually seen on video prior to this occasion. For example the first match featured Shantelle Taylor and Tiana Ringer, two of Canada's finest examples of home-grown talent. They had wrestled each other a million times before and opened the card with a great match. The fans were then treated to tag team action, pitting the annoying heel Team Blondage (Krissy Vaine and Amber O'Neal) facing the make-shift combination of Cindy Rogers and Nikki Roxx. Everyone was decent here but Roxx was clearly the star, and I look forward to seeing her in some singles bouts in the future. Ariel (what a sweetie) battled IWA Mid South's Rain in a nice test of skills for both women. This was my first taste of Ariel, and I have to give her a lot of credit, as she surprised me with how well she has developed as a wrestler.

Rain is one of the most beautiful women I've ever laid eyes on -- Next we had my personal highlight of the night with everybody's favorite California girl Cheerleader Melissa taking on the demonic force of MsChif. I've seen lots of Melissa matches and she is my favorite by far, but this was my first chance to check out a complete match involving MsChif -- what a threat she is with her unique personality! The match was a stiff contest and included Melissa stretching the hell out of MsChif in positions that just had to be seen to be appreciated. Ring veteran Lexie Fyfe brought all of her experience to a SHIMMER ring and faced Christie Ricci in a decent match. Allison Danger, who doubled as color commentator all night long, was fortunate enough to get a match with WWE-signee Beth Phoenix (Note: It was easy to spot the WWE employee in the roster photo, look for the one with BIG BOOBS). This was the best match I've ever seen out of Allison Danger, and I'm really looking forward to watching more in future SHIMMER DVDs. Sara Del Ray and Mercedes Martinez slowed things down a little bit and went at it for neary 30 minutes with back and forth action. ROH-influence was felt before, during, and at the end of this match and handshakes were exchanged and respect was shown. Mercedes Martinez is a close second on my favorites list. The main event featured two ROH valets donning the tights and going to war for a 20 minute battle to end the evening with a solid match. Daizee Haze is deceptively tough. Lacey is deceptively talented.
Final Thoughts: There was an obvious lack of stipulations, but that is understandable seeing as though it was their first show. This was by no means a failure, because I was happy with this volume; I do, however, expect an improvement in future SHIMMER DVDs. Thank you to all the girls and keep up the wonderful effort.

(More customer reviews)Yeah, I love womens wrestling. I like wwe and all the matches, but its not enough of the ladies getting down. Thankfully, there is Amazon dot com and a wonderfull dvd selection. I got this one for Beth Pheonix. She is nice in this one, but she doesn't have the same persona as she does today. She is built, but she ain't so bad. Her match was interresting to see how she started. The rest of the dvd I haven't even watched all of it. It looks cheap like home movie style and dated. If your a real fan You may enjoy this "vintage material". If your used to wwe style of fire works, music intros, huh ... an audience, you ain't getting that on this one.
