(More customer reviews)12 Oz Mouse may quite honestly be the most significant cinematic work thusfar of the 21st century. At the surface level, it's one of the funniest shows you'll ever see. The dialogue is priceless and memorable, and in no-time at all you feel like you know the characters intimately. On a much deeper level, the overall plot and underlying symbolisms culminate in creating the most complex and enlightening message I've found in a long time. I don't want to be a movie-spoiler, but I can at least say that one of the larger messages of this epic-movie is: Our reality is layered into multiple yet equally insignificant larger realities, while reassurring us that no matter what reality in which we exist our actions in that reality are what define us as an individual.
The show originally aired as a series of short 15-minute episodes, but they were meant to be linked continously together. The DVD gives the story as one non-stop 3.5-hour long movie, along with some great extras. Highly recommended and highly entertaining. Easily my favorite TV Show, Movie, and overall story.

Duckman - Seasons One & Two Review

(More customer reviews)At last, one of my favourite modern cartoon characters is coming to a DVD player near me soon. I purchased Ren and Stimpy season one and two and enjoyed them, but this character is the one I've been waiting for. Trying to follow the adventures of this excitable private dick was an adventure in itself, as the TV station over here put it on at anytime, but always very late at night.
It always seemed to me that the TV station didn't know how to handle this show.
My VHS tapes are on the way out now, so this release has come at the right time.
Most of the subject matter will go over a childs head, but this is definitely not a cartoon for kids anyway.

The eponymous character comes across as a mixture of a wise cracking, un-pc, Inspector Clouseau type, it's his side kick Cornfed who's the real brains behind this outfit, and he's obviously based on; "Dragnets" Joe Friday.
If your easily offended you may find some episodes a bit indecorous, so you've been warned.
Though personally I can't wait, as I've pre-ordered it.
My favourite character after Duckman himself was his eldest son Ajax, "most excellently" voiced by Frank Zappa's son Dweezil.
Hopefully the remaining two seasons won't be too far behind in getting released.
This set should consist of twenty two episodes.
Original run dates, march 5 1994-september 6 1997.
(Overall there were four seasons, seventy episodes in total.)
This one will be played the moment it's delivered.

Thanks to mattd, I have been reliably informed that the Complete series will be released on the 6th of january 2009, it would perhaps be more financially astute to hold on till then.

Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, Vol. 1 (2000) Review

(More customer reviews)Harvey Birdman is an old HB character that Adult Swim (late nights on Cartoon Network)decided to give a face-lift to. Harvey didn't quite hack it as a superhero, but he knows enough about the law to be dangerous! Harvey tries cases of former/current HB characters including Fred Flintstone, Shaggy and Scooby, Dynomutt, and Speed Buggy. The episodes include:
BANNON CUSTODY BATTLE: Remember Jonny Quest? It seems his dad, Dr. Quest and his "partner" Race Bannon are involved in a grueling custody battle over Jonny and little Hadji. Prosecuting attorney Vulturo seems to be winning until Harvey discovers some evidence that may put him over the top.
VERY PERSONAL INJURY: Apache Chief has an embarassing incident with a large cup of very hot coffee from a local coffee chain . He hires Harvey as his attorney to sue Javalux, as he no longer can "grow large at will" after the accident. Prosecuting attorney Reducto has a scheme up his sleeve to help Chief get his teepee back and win the case.
SHAGGY BUSTED: In one of the funniest episodes, we see the Mystery Machine being pulled over via a camera from a cop car (much like "COPS"). Shaggy and Scooby need a good lawyer to beat the charges of smoking pot (always implied, never stated)and Harvey takes the case. Ex-Thespian Prosecuter Spyro not only tries the case, but performs in a stirring rendition of the events of the night in question.
DEATH BY CHOCOLATE: Yogi and Boo-Boo find themselves in a heap of trouble when the ATF swarm their cave and arrest Boo-Boo on charges that he is the terrorist known as "The Unabooboo". Obviously, they need a good lawyer, but Harvey Birdman will do.
SHOYU WEENIE: Jabberjaw and the Neptunes are being sued by a Japanese pop band called Shoyu Weenie for stealing their hit song. Harvey's paralegal Peanut takes the opportunity to hit on the band's female member and finds a way to save the day.
THE DABBA DON: This is my all-time favorite episode. Opening with the theme from "The Sopranos", Fred Flinstone seeks Harvey's advice to expand "a few small businesses". Everything seems to be on the up and up until a few details tie Fred in with the Mob. The episode features my favorite judge Mentok the Mind Taker.
DEADOMUTT, PARTS I and II: Blue Falcon joins the firm as a hot new attorney with his pal DynoMutt in tow. Harvey, crushed that Falcon swooped in and stole the open position of 'partner' from under him, doesn't even try to hide his jealousy and dislike for Falcon, and figures he'd be nothing without DynoMutt to do all his work for him. Now Harvey has a lot of explaining to do when DynoMutt is found mangled up in the copy machine. Harvey is arrested, tried and sentenced to be electrocuted. It's up to Peanut to come to the rescue armed with evidence and heavy sarcasm.
X, THE EXTERMINATOR: X the Eliminator has his memory jarred when he sees and ad with Harvey and his new law firm. Apparently, he was supposed to kill Harvey years ago but never finished him off. Now, he poses as X the Exterminator to get into Harvey's building and finish the job- if he can get over the fact that Harvey barely remembers him and keeps blowing him off for a coffee date.
SPF: After years of gaining power from the sun's rays, Harvey finds a suspicious "spot" on his skin (that oddly resembles Frida Kahlo). The dermatologist insists he stay out of the sun and use a strong SPF. But Harvey becomes listless and tired, not to mention pasty as the underside of a fish. Peanut introduces him to self-tanning cream, and Harvey quickly becomes addicted to the stuff. Peanut uses the opportunity to be his SPF "Candyman", demanding more and more valuables from Harvey in exchange for the goods. It's up to the rest of the firm to throw Harvey an "intervention party".
THE DEVLIN MADE ME DO IT: Daredevil Ernie Devlin is being sued by a kid that injured himself trying one of his famous jumps. Harvey decides the kid is faking it and attacks him- in the courtroom- in his wheelchair. When that severely backfires, Harvey has to do some fancy dancing to win the case.
TRIO'S COMPANY: Harvey represents Inch-High Private Eye when the tiny detective insists he's been fired because of his smaller stature. Meanwhile, Harvey has become smitten with the trainer at his healthclub. But everyone seems to be her "friend", except him.
HIGH SPEED BUGGY CHASE: In an O.J. inspired opener, Speed Buggy gets arrested for leading the cops on a high speed chase. Harvey is hired as defender, but loses a jealous Avenger (his legal eagle assistant) to rival attorney Vulturo. Harvey is forced to downsize to a legal finch.
The DVD also features a ficticious 'movie' trailer and a lot of behind the scenes stuff. There are also auditions for Harvey with Todd Barry and Stephen Colbert (the voice of Reducto). The "Tab" soda scene from "Shaggy Busted" is shown as a video, including lyrics. And finally, deleted scenes from the 2 part episode "DeadoMutt" are here. Of all the Adult Swim cartoons, "Harvey Birdman" is definitely may favorite ("Sealab 2021" and "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" are 2nd and 3rd, repsectively). Get a taste of delicious insanity today!

Once a third-rate superhero, Harvey Birdman is now a third-rate lawyer trying like hell to get by in a fancy law firm. It's not clear whether Harvey actually went to law school, but he definitely knows the things to say to sound like a lawyer. This set is currently VERY overpriced ($173) compared to the cost of buying them individually ($116). Just a heads up, in case you automatically assumed the set would be cheaper.
I'd like to note that prices on Amazon.com fluctuate a lot--sometimes daily--and when you read this in the future, those numbers could change.

Squidbillies, Vol. 1 (2005) Review

(More customer reviews)From one of the creative minds behind Adult Swim's smash Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Squidbillies pushes the limits for offensiveness compared to some of the other shows on the Adult Swim lineup, and in some cases, even goes over it. It's all good however, considering that Squidbillies is mostly pure comic glee. The show revolves around an ex-con, hillbilly, talking squid named Early, who is re-united with his illegitamite son in backwoods redneck country. In between the series of mis-adventures that the two embark on, they deal with crack-pot family members, and a sheriff that has his share of problems. There's plenty of gross out gags and cliche' hillbilly behavior, and for the most part it's all frequently hilarious throughout. The animation style may not be everyone's cup of tea to be sure, but it suits the environment and the setting. As said before, Squidbillies is definitely not for everyone, but it keeps on supplying the laughs, and in that department alone, is worth checking out.

The Venture Bros.: Season Three (2009) Review

(More customer reviews)The Venture Bros. is without a doubt my favorite TV show, and has been for a while. There is so much to enjoy about this show it's hard to know where to start. The writers (Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer, also the voices of many of the characters) have taken the Jonny Quest concept and warped it beyond recognition into a tremendously enjoyable viewing experience. One thing I love about this show is Doc and Jackson's absolute refusal to dumb down the material in any way, shape or form. If you don't get a joke or a reference, you just have to rewind the DVD and watch again, or go online, or watch earlier shows (shows often refer back to tiny details in past shows, which you're expected to just know). Sometimes the jokes come from so far out of left field I end up shaking my head in amazement, as with an episode where two Men In Black-style government agents identify themselves as lepidopterists (as opposed to philatelists -- it'll make sense in context). Season 3 offers the same great writing as the first two seasons, but the look of the show has been dramatically improved with the 16x9 aspect ratio. The DVDs are also completely uncensored (I was amazed at how many swear words were in the episodes). This show can be enjoyed on many levels: the crazy comedy, the characters (who are endearing despite, or perhaps because of, their many foibles), the terrific over-the-top action sequences, the satire, the references, the amazingly convoluted backstory, and just the utter out-and-out insanity of every episode. The one negative thing is that the story has gotten sufficiently involved that it would be hard for a new viewer to really get what was going on by watching these episodes; you really need to buy the first two box sets (you can thank me later). Actually, there's another negative thing: after watching The Venture Bros., other TV shows seem depressingly stupid and boring by comparison.

-They have switched to a one disc format which means
-less total episodes
-slightly slimmer special features
-Less deluxe of packaging
-they changed the order of some of the episodes (rabbot redux should have logically followed "the last one forever and ever") and they removed the christmas special from the lineup even though it came out before "rabbot redux"Overall though, the inclusion of a sequel to Terror Phone adds alot to the special features. The special features are still really good this time around even though they seem a bit slimmer. They packed ALOT of stuff onto one disc.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force - Volume One (2000) Review

(More customer reviews)This is my current favorite DVD series. It's so absurd a premise and so beyond the pale of most cartoon series out there these days, that it has infinite appeal to both my sixteen year old son and to me. Our dynamic trio and their next door Jersey neighbor, the tank top wearing Carl, are the funniest toon characters in Television land. That's saying a lot as television is currently witnessing a true renaissance of cartoon humor.
The creators are the same crew that brought us the equally silly, but cutting edge SPACEGHOST COAST TO COAST. The same sort of hip, off colour humor that informed that show is at play here, only more so. My favorite segment involves a manic depressive, deadbeat, suicidal doll who has a negative, lifeforce-draining impact on all who come in contact with him. Other highlights include a pair of aliens who look as if they've escaped from some crude '70s Atari game. The punk talking little alien, err, is particularly amusing.
Of the three main characters, my favorite is Meatwad, the mush mouthed, single toothed meatball, whose speech is almost unintelligble, but who is delightfully, stupidly impressionable.
If you're in the mood for some absolutely mindless, but hysterically hip comic relief, give this DVD set a try. The extras aren't that much to write home about, but no contemporary toon buff should be without this two disc set in his/her collection.
If you have a sensibilty that is as warped as mine is, and you enjoy The Simpsons, South Park, Beavis and Butthead, The Family Guy, etc., I'm certain that you will enjoy this anti-superhero trio.

Family Guy, Vol. 2 (Season 3) (2003) Review

(More customer reviews)It is an unfortunate fact that in the politically correct age we live in that edgy comedy is categorized as offensive when it is really just being silly. That is exactly what happened to "Family Guy" a series that laid siege to every one of our sacred cows (religion, sex, violence, race relations, etc.), but did so in such a matter of fact manner, I find it hard to believe that anyone could have taken issue with it. Nonetheless, the series is no more; fortunately, we have the DVD compilations featuring every episode in its uncut hilariousness.
Season Three comprises twenty-one episodes, one of which was never aired on television. Actually, "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein" exemplifies my point about political correctness, as its silly, even complimentary view of Judaism could offend only the most supremely sensitive person. But enough with the negative, as there are some genuinely hilarious episodes on these discs. Moreover, since Fox aired them somewhat sporadically during the final season, it's likely there are one or two episodes that will be new to the viewer. For example, I had never seen "A Very Special Family Guy Freakin' Christmas" or "Road to Europe" both of which feature some of the best parody in the set. Other highlights include "A Fish Out of Water" which features a spectacularly fat Peter, "To Love and Die in Dixie" which is the best "Family Guy" tribute to a TV series with its "Dukes of Hazard" inspired storyline, and "Family Guy Viewer Mail #1" which features three shorts that abandon all pretense of a basis in reality and produce some the best sight gags ever seen during the show's run.
That said, anyone who buys this set probably already knows how funny this show is, but what makes this collection really impressive is the quality of the extras. First off is the packaging itself which features an episode guide on the back of each case, which makes it easy to find that specific episode you're looking for. Or, if you've got more time, the ability to play every episode on the disc consecutively is a great feature. In addition, the commentary which is available on five of the episodes ranges from informative to hysterical. However, the true highlights are to be found on Disc 3, which contains animatics (pencil drawings) of several deleted scenes, complete with dialogue. These are nice not only because they contain new material, but also because they offer some insight into how the episodes evolved into their finished form. Next are two short documentaries, which offer a funny, interesting look into the series' development, the voice talent, how the characters evolved, and ultimately, why the show didn't last. Finally, there is the "Family Guy" pilot that was pitched to the network; again it's interesting to see how these relatively crudely drawn (but well voiced) characters evolved into the show that become such a cult hit.
Ultimately, if you are a big fan of the show, you need this collection, and nothing I say here is going to make you more likely to buy it. However, if you're sitting on the fence, I can't emphasize enough what a great show "Family Guy" is. It is literally funnier than anything on TV today, and over time, I expect it will be even more broadly appreciated for its comic genius. If you want to laugh until it hurts, and aren't offended by humor on the edge, this is definitely a show for you. Finally, I would just like to point out that Seth MacFarlane alludes to a line written for Stewie in an episode that never aired, so let's all hope that there may be yet more to come!

Robot Chicken - Season Two (Uncensored) (2005) Review

(More customer reviews)The second season of Robot Chicken, created by geek-god Seth Green, continues the stop motion, action figure starring insanity that made the groundbreaking first season of the show so entertaining. If you enjoyed the first season of the show, you should know what to expect here: skits ranging from Star Wars to classic TV shows and cartoons, to politically charged moments, celebrity-aimed knocks, to just plain blink and you miss it insanity. However, there are some misses to this season, including a segment starring both Corey Haim and Corey Feldman as themselves, which is almost painful to watch. The good however, greatly outweighs the bad, as we see a crazed Ted Turner (not voiced by himself) masquerade around as Captain Planet, Barney the purple dinosaur looking for love, Castro playing "Dance, Dance, Revolution", a fantastic Highlander spoof starring the current day teen queens, and plenty, plenty more to boot. Also like the first season of the show, there is a horde of voice talent to be found with the second season of Robot Chicken, including Green, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Scarlet Johansson, Charlize Theron, Paul Rudd, David Hasselhoff, Seth MacFarlane, Christian Slater, Phyllis Diller, Breckin Meyer, Miguel Ferrer, Dana "Master Shake" Snyder, Dan Milano, Alex Borstein, Mila Kunis, Michelle Trachtenberg, Ginnifer Goodwin, Macaulay Culkin, Bruce Campbell, Peter Gallagher, Emma Caulfield, Melanie Griffith, Gene Simmons, Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman, Weird Al, Kelly Hu, Roddy Piper, and Hulk Hogan. There's a great selection of special features to be found on this two disc set, and yes, like it says on the cover, season two of Robot Chicken is uncensored, and even funnier than you may think it would be without the bleeps. All in all, even for casual Adult Swim viewers, season two of Robot Chicken is a must own.

If you order all 3 seasons individually as opposed to this bundle it is $35 less than this pack. Normally buying a set should save you money so please avoid this one and buy the individual seasons as part of a Super Saver eligible order.

King of the Hill - The Complete Third Season (1997) Review

(More customer reviews)The third season of KING OF THE HILL is perhaps its best, with the writing at its peak and with as varied and well-defined a group of characters as you'll find on any sitcom. Here's a brief rundown of the 25 episodes in this set:
1. "Death of a Propane Salesman" -- The long-awaited conclusion to the cliffhanger that ended season two. A darkly funny opening to a great season, finding humor in the question of how we deal with death and fear of dying.
2. "And They Call It Bobby Love" -- Bobby (Pamela Segall) falls in love with a girl (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who's two years older than him. This episode won KotH the Emmy for outstanding animated series.
3. "Peggy's Headache" -- Peggy (Kathy Najimy) finally realizes that Dale's wife Nancy (Ashley Gardner) is having an affair with her Native American "healer," John Redcorn (Jonathan Joss). Another episode that takes a tough subject, adultery, and makes it funny.
4. "Pregnant Paws" -- Hank (Mike Judge) tries to find a breeding partner for his dog Ladybird, which makes Peggy jealous, as she's the one who really wants another baby.
5. "Next of Shin" -- To add to Hank's frustration over not being able to have another child, his father Cotton (Toby Huss) reveals that he's going to become a father again. As you can see, this season of King of the Hill is one of the few seasons of an animated series that incorporates some continuing story arcs; the story points introduced in this episode will continue in other episodes and come to a head in the season finale.
6. "Peggy's Pageant Fever" -- Peggy enters a beauty pageant and becomes insecure both about her looks and her accomplishments. Contains some of the show's best moments, especially a hilarious throwaway scene where Bill (Stephen Root) sings "Takin' Care of Business." Guest stars include Carol Alt and Kathy Ireland.
7. "Nine Pretty Darn Angry Men" -- Hank, his friends and his father sit on a focus group, and Hank is the only one who objects to the company's plans to redesign its product. Guest-stars, Billy Bob Thornton and Dwight Yoakam.
8. "Good Hill Hunting" -- Hank wants to take Bobby on his first hunting trip, but is unable to get a hunting license. Like the gun episode from the second season, this episode both satirizes Texas culture and takes it as a given; and it's not so much about guns as about a father-son relationship and the significance we attach to coming-of-age rituals.
9. "Pretty, Pretty Dresses" -- The strangest Christmas episode ever: Hank's lonely divorced friend Bill tries to kill himself, and then decides that if he can't get his wife back, he will become her by wearing her old clothes. It sounds depressing, but it's actually one of the funniest episodes of the season -- with a genuinely touching ending capped by a great closing gag. What makes King of the Hill so good is its ability to be realistic and bizarre and affecting all at once, and this is one of the best episodes.
10. "A Firefighting We Will Go" -- Hank and his friends become volunteer firefighters. An unabashed slapstick episode, full of Three Stooges references, crazy physical gags, and funny lines. One of the funniest episodes of the season demonstrates that KotH can do a "wacky" episode as well as anybody.
11. "To Spank With Love" -- Peggy gets in trouble for spanking a student, but then becomes a hero as "Paddlin' Peggy," and starts to use her reputation to scare her students.
12. "Three Coaches and a Bobby" -- When Hank gets his tough old coach to run Bobby's football team, Bobby decides he'd rather play on the more fun, less regimented soccer team. Includes Hank's infamous description of soccer: "Soccer was invented by European ladies to keep them busy while their husbands did the cooking." Guest star: Will Ferrell.
13. "De-Kahnstructing Henry" -- Hank's overachieving neighbor Kahn (Toby Huss) tries to make Hank jealous of his great new job -- but in the process, he gives away government secrets and gets fired.
14. "The Wedding of Bobby Hill" -- Bobby and his cousin Luanne (Brittany Murphy) compete for the attention of a concert promoter and self-proclaimed genius, Rad (Matthew McConaughey). When things get out of hand, Hank and Peggy teach Bobby a lesson by convincing him that he got Luanne pregnant and has to marry her.
15. "Sleight of Hank" -- After seeing a magic show, Bobby incorporates the tricks and patter into his Sunday School report on Jesus. Besides this hilarious scene ("I am The Amazing Jesus!") the episode is a character study of the differences between Hank and Peggy.
16. "Return to La Grunta" -- The story of Hank almost getting sexually assaulted by a dolphin is combined with a parallel subplot about Luanne getting sexually harassed at work. One of the show's most famous and unique episodes. Guest star: Billy West.
17. "Escape From Party Island" -- Hank takes his mother and her friends to a miniatures museum in Port Aransas, and winds up caught in the middle of MTV's Spring Break. Guest stars: Pauly Shore, Phyllis Diller, Uta Hagen, Betty White.
18. "Love Hurts and So Does Art" -- Nervous about the idea of going to a dance with Connie (Lauren Tom), Bobby starts overeating and develops gout.
19. "Hank's Cowboy Movie" -- Hank tries to get the Dallas Cowboys to move their training camp to Arlen by making a promotional video for the town. Everything goes farcically wrong, of course, but the episode has a surprisingly touching undercurrent about Hank's fear that Bobby will leave Arlen when he grows up.
20. "Dog Dale Afternoon" -- Dale (Johnny Hardwick) is driven round the bend when his friends steal his new lawn mower as a prank.
21. "Revenge of the Lutefisk" -- The new female minister (Mary Tyler Moore) serves a midwestern fish dish, which somehow indirectly leads to Bobby accidentally burning down the church.
22. "Death and Texas" -- Peggy goes to visit a death row convict, and unwittingly winds up smuggling cocaine in to him.
23. "Wings of the Dope" -- Luanne thinks that her boyfriend Buckley (David Herman) has come back as an angel. Contains the famous use of the song "Life in a Northern Town" by Dream Academy.
24. "Take Me Out of the Ball Game" -- Peggy becomes the star pitcher for Hank's softball team, but Hank's over-managing causes her to lose her touch.
25. "As Old as the Hills" -- In the season finale, Hank and Peggy mark their twentieth wedding anniversary by lamenting their lost dreams, and they decide to do something crazy. This episode ties up the themes that have run through the season (such as Peggy's frustration and Cotton's new baby) into another funny, touching and well-constructed story.

(More customer reviews)If you are considering the fourth season of King of the Hill for your DVD collection you are probably already a fan of the show. The fourth season has some of my favorite moments from KOTH. Cotton's horror as he finds out that his newborn son is leaking milk, Connie having her period while staying with the Hills, Hank's thanksgiving turkey being destroyed by a bomb squaud at the airport, Peggy's feet being featured on a foot fetish website, Bobby seeing his female cousin naked for the first time, and the whodunnit murder of a very minor character voiced by Reese Witherspoon. These episodes are great without question but what is up with the special features department? The first two seasons had it all, comentaries, animatics, deleted scences, easter eggs, the whole shebang. But when I purchased the third season it was as if they put the release together the night before it came out. There were absolutley no special features, nada, zilch, zip. The discs were the double sided kind, and the artwork on the packaging sucked. It took only a few months between the first and second releases and we got two awesome sets, but it took another year before the third season was released and we got stiffed big time. But now it is time for season four to be released and I'm getting worried that it will be a repeat of the rush-job we got for season three. I already know it is going to be 3 double-sided discs and it is coming out only 4 months after the previous release. I just hope Fox doesn't do this half-assed. I would be willing to wait a few extra months to get this DVD if it would mean getting it done right.

Robot Chicken, Season 1 (2005) Review

(More customer reviews)The topics and humor in this show come fast and in a highly random manner, which may not appeal to everyone, but if you like the old 1-minute "blackout" type of sketches done years ago on many variety shows, then Robot Chicken will appeal to you. If a gag misses the mark for you it will be over fast and the next one will be rolling by moments later, a gag that may be very different and a lot funnier to you. There's something for everyone, as pop-culture, politics and more are skewered using action figures and other models in a rapid parade of stop-motion comedy sketches. My personal favorites are those that use action figures from some popular cartoon, comic book or movie, placing them in character in situations where they are forced to deal with everyday frustrations and problems. It's bust-a-gutt funny when you see Lex Luthor and Skeletor stuck in traffic, Transformers suffering from severe chronic illnesses, and more. There's also a hilarious bit where a stop-motion Mark Hamill (who voices himself) walks off the set of Star Wars after Darth Vader spouts a string of the most improbable explanations of how things work in Star Wars mythology. Many other actors and well-known personalities provide guest voices on the show, often poking fun at themselves or work they have done in the past.
Robot Chicken Vol. 1 is funny enough to warrant repeated viewing and I'm looking forward both to buying this DVD set and to seeing the second season of the show which begins in April 2006.

It is hilarious yet intelligent with unforgettable and very believable characters (who doesn't know someone like the government-hating, paranoid Dale or the self-aggrandizing Peggy?). Like the first DVD set, Season 2 if compiled with a lot of professionalism and care. The extras on these DVDs are very unique and creative. My favorites are the deleted and extended scenes. There is commentary on at least one episode per disc by the characters or the creators that are entertaining and interesting, although the character commentaries are better on the first season disc set. The designers of this set also give the viewer an inside look at how animated T.V. shows are made through the "Animation Evolution" featurette which has many options. Other extras include The Arlen School of Drawing tutorial, music inspired by the Hills, and book excerpts from "The Boy Ain't Right."
Season Two has 22 episodes which include the following: (1) How to Fire a Rifle Without Really Trying: Bobby discovers he excels at shooting but Hank's traumatic childhood may prevent them from participating in the father-son funshoot; (2) Texas City Twister: One of my favorites. Hank tries to save Peggy and Luanne from a twister headed for the Shiny Pines trailer park; (3) The Arrowhead: Peggy is intrigued by an archeologist but Hank is suspicious; (4) Hilloween: A fanatic church member tries to cancel Halloween in Arlen; (5) Jumpin' Crack Bass: Hank finds a cool new fishing "bait"; (6) Husky Bobby: Another favorite. Bobby becomes a model for husky boys...over Hank's body!, (7) The Man Who Shot Cane Skretteburg: Hank and the gang are humiliated during a paintball incident; (8) The Son That Got Away: Connie, Bobby, and Joseph visit the make-out caves; (9) Bobby Slam: Connie wants to try out for the wrestling team; (10) The Unbearable Blindness of Laying: Another favorite! Hank goes blind after seeing his mother and male companion "in the act," (11) Meet the Manger Babies: Luanne starts a puppet show.
Episodes on the next two discs: (12) Snow Job: Hank discovers his boss uses an electric stove; (13) I Remember Mono: Peggy suspects her husband made out with a classmate back in high school; (14) Three Days of Kahndo: Hank and Dale must sneak over the border to get out of Mexico; (15) Traffic Jam: Hank and Bobby encounter a Chris Rock-like traffic school instructor; (16) Hank's Dirty Laundry: A local video store accuses Hank of not returning racy videos; (17) The Final Shinsult: Cotton and Dale are in cahoots; (18) Leanne's Saga: Luanne's mother is back and falls for Bill; (19) Junkie Business: A great parody of real life, Hank hires a drug addict and finds out he cannot fire him without breaking some discrimination law; (20) Life in the Fast Lane, Bobby's Saga: Bobby get a job at the Speedway with a mentally unstable boss; (21) Peggy's Turtle Song: Bobby is diagnosed with ADD and Peggy decides she must become a full-time mom to help him, but becomes bored and signs up for guitar lessons from a feminist; (22) Propane Boom-Part I: The Mega Lo Mart threatens Stricklen Propane. This one was part of that "Who's going to die?" cliff hanger.
