(More customer reviews)Johnny Carson has been and always will be one of the greatest comedians of all time. In my mind his greatest gift as an entertainer was his ability to go with the flow when a guest did something unusual or unexpected. It is those moments that are often the funniest.
The scenes on this tape are:
*) Carson doing a monologue
*) A comedy skit by Garry Shandling
*) A guest appearance by Frank O. Hill, a man who makes jewelry out of quail droppings.
*) Burt Reynolds, where Johnny and Dom Deluise do a "This is Your Life" segment on Reynolds
*) Former professional football player Art Donovan
*) Helen Bullock, a woman who won an award for being the fastest chopper of wood.
Of these segments, the funniest by far are Art Donovan and Helen Bullock. Donovan is hysterical in describing events from his football career and Bullock comes on to Carson in a very charming way. He is as smooth as always, stealing his part of the camera attention while still allowing her to have her moment in the spotlight. It is Johnny Carson at his very best.
