As if volume 1 containing four episodes wasn't a big enough insult to fans, now comes vol. 2 with only four more episodes. These episodes aren't even in anamorphic widescreen! Do not waste your money on this release; wait for the full season 1 box set which will probably be out for the holiday season this year.

Krypto the Superdog, Vol. 1: Cosmic Canine (2005) Review

Krypto the Superdog, Vol. 1: Cosmic Canine (2005)
Average Reviews:

This show is trully classic, Paul Dini (writer of the well known Batman, Superman and Justice League cartoons) is part of the project and it shows. Unlike the shows mentioned earlier this show is for young kids, however it is written very well that an adult can sit through the episodes and enjoy them. The whole show feels retro, fromt he theme song to the episode splash. The show so far has also gotten development and keeps getting better with a big cast of supporting characters, from his owner Kevin and Ace the Bathound (batman's dog) all the way to Streaky the cat and the Dog patrol.
However, since the show is aimed at young kids, so is this dvd, with only 5 twelve minute episodes, it hardly feels worth it, hopefully it'll get some better releases later as this is a great show.

Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World - 2-DVD Set ( Mysterious World ) Review

Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World - 2-DVD Set ( Mysterious World )
Average Reviews:

This has got to be the most interesting series of shows I have ever had the pleasure of watching. I highly recommend this dvd set for anyone with an inquisitive, intelligent mind who has an interest in mysteries of every sort. These are the kinds of shows that you will want to watch more than once and they will often inspire you to learn more about the topics that were presented. If you watch one of these shows with some friends or family, interesting conversation is sure to follow.
One word of warning: this dvd set does not play on "standard" (region 1) dvd players in the U.S.; fortunately, all-region dvd players are readily available on Amazon so this was not a problem for me.

NFL: America's Game: New England Patriots Review

I absolutely love the way America's Game explains the Patriots trips to the Superbowl..they explain everything that has happened during the course of the season and also review the season week by week, my favorite disc on the whole 3-disc set would have to be SBXXXVI, to see a guy like Tom Brady who had been drafted sooo late in the 2000 NFL Draft to carry his team to a Superbowl and win was spectacular. I loved the other ones too but to me I loved SBXXXVI the most, it was great to see them win their first championship, a GREAT DVD!!

The Endless Summer Review

The Endless Summer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In the late 1950's and early 1960's, surfer and filmmaker Bruce Brown built a small career making short surfing films and showing them in school auditoriums with his own live narration. In 1964, he shot his first documentary feature, THE ENDLESS SUMMER. Released in 1966, the film would become an enduring, entertaining milestone, celebrating surf culture and the search for the perfect wave.
The primary subjects of Brown's movie are Mike Hynson and Robert August, two Southern California surfers who embark on an odyssey to find the world's greatest surfing spots. Brown and his silent 16mm camera accompanied the pair as they chased the surf to Senegal, Ghana, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti and Hawaii. Though the film focuses on Mike and Robert's surfing adventures, it also became a travelogue of these two guileless, young Americans (3, including Brown), surfboards in tow, discovering remote parts of the 1960's world while happily encountering the locals.
Brown intercut Mike and Robert's journey with footage of some of the best surfers and surf locations in California and Hawaii. His love of the sport and the culture make THE ENDLESS SUMMER infectious viewing, even for landlubbers like me.
Shooting his movie with the most basic 16mm equipment, Bruce Brown's keen eye is responsible for turning THE ENDLESS SUMMER into the landmark documentary it became. Additionally, Brown's fun, involving narration is completely engaging. In the best sense, it's like watching a good pal's home movies, where your host's enthusiasm and love of his subject becomes infectious, while the wall-to-wall, surf-inflected music of The Sandals brings it all home.
Forty-five years after Bruce Brown shot his film, THE ENDLESS SUMMER has become an endearing time capsule of an era long past. Thanks to the Top 40 popularity of The Beach Boys and their musical mythologizing of the California beach ethos, catching a wave was a concept that became familiar around the world. Brown beautifully captured that spirit on film in THE ENDLESS SUMMER.

Is there a good reason why such a quality series of programs can't be released in the US? Both the Michael Praed and Jason Connery versions are the best-acted and best-filmed versions of the Robin Hood legend. If you agree, please add your voice to those who'd like to see this series released here.

The Red Balloon Review

The Red Balloon
Average Reviews:

Like one of the other reviewers, I ran into problems with the two special features, but while they didn't play at all on his system, I got audio but not video. That said, the two main features-- The Red Balloon and White Mane-- played. True, the main menu does not permit selecting chapters, but the chapter advance controls do work. The picture quality for this Blu-ray is a real improvement over the Janus (Criterion sponsored) issued standard definition versions. The issuer of this Blu-ray edition, Network Releasing, responded to my complaint that it is licensed only for Region 2. However, that info appears nowhere on the packaging, although with a magnifying glass, I could see "SD 4:3 PAL" listed for those special features. I guess that means that the main features are All-Region encoded.
